Hi, my name is Josie Adamson and I’m a new brand ambassador of the amazing Jockey and Jill, I’m here today to introduce myself to all the lovely Jockey and Jill customers and family.
To start I’m a 19-Year-old rider from the northeast and I have been on my riding journey since I was as young as 3 year old, it’s been a long rocky journey, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I say rocky because as much as I get support from my family, they have not a single clue about the first thing of horse’s, so I’m not from a horse family background, so I had to figure out a lot of stuff on my own through hard work and dedication.
I got my first horse that I could call my own at only 11 year old which I vouch myself very lucky and he was a Welsh cob x, bay gelding who got me through my roughest times with family and school, I would consider him my heart horse and we had so many memories together even though like a lot of horses he could be a pain in my behind. I owned him up until I was around the age of 15/16 and the only reason we sold him was because we couldn’t afford 2 horses as much as I wanted to keep him my ambitions and future plans were getting bigger by the day, by the age of 13 I already decided one of my dreams was to go to Hartpury University (and thankfully I fulfilled that dream).
After the sale of my boy Trojen we found a gorgeous chestnut gelding when it was hard to find horses being around covid time, he was everything we didn’t want for my first Horse (over 16.2hh, chestnut, under 5yo and very green), but this didn’t put young fearless me off, I fell in love with Eric especially because of eyes, he had lovely kind eyes, he was great but with only being 3yo he got bigger and stronger by the day and eventually to opinionated for little me so he went to a lovely home where he is now in the best hands and loving his life. Although it did not work out Eric taught me a lot and without him, I would not be where I am today.
That brings me to just over a year ago when I accidentally found that horse my heart had been searching for all along, Sienna, 13yo, Dutch warmblood, 15.3hh, mare (the horse only little me could have dreamed of). She has taught me so much and we are having the time of our lives doing everything together and she is my shoulder to fall on. In the short time I have had her I’ve took her from a brood mare to winning chase me Charlie at 1.40M and clearing and placing in 80cm and 90cm with levels to go up in. of course everything isn’t always perfect but nothing ever is but I wouldn’t have it any other way, we are learning and growing together as well as she has brought my confidence back and brought back the love of the sport to me (even with all the dreaded early winter mornings).
Now to present time, I have my gorgeous mare, studying at Hartpury University going into my second year of Equine Performance and Rehabilitation to better the horse industry and care for horses in need, I even have my own freelance helping people with all sorts of horses no matter the level. I am so happy to now be a part of the Jockey and Jill family and can’t wait for the future within this, thank you so much.
