Hey guys! I’m back with another blog to fill you all in on my most recent project, Fanta!
I bought Fanta a couple of months ago now straight from the field. All I saw in the viewing, was him walking out of the field and trotting up the country lane in hand. As soon as I saw him, I knew I wanted to take him home with me.
Fanta was turned away to mature after being broken in a year ago. He was out with lots of other horses which unfortunately lead to him being very underweight when he came to me and overall, a bit sad.
I decided to turn Fanta away again, to allow him to graze the summer grass and enjoy being in his own individual turn out and ultimately, just enjoy being a horse.
I started feeding bucket feeds and slowly but surely the weight started to show.
He is now looking and feeling better, meaning his ridden journey begins!
I started back at basics and did lots of groundwork, lunging, long reining and general bonding. I groomed Fanta daily to gain his trust and to teach him patience.
Fanta is the most precious boy, and I really believe he will go far in his ridden journey.
We had our first ride last week and it couldn’t have gone better (full playlist on my TikTok – @billieanngriffiths). I wore my Jockey & Jill, black show shirt to keep cool under the pressure and stress of riding a
4 year old for the first time in over a year….honestly I was quite nervous because I have waited for this moment for a couple of months, but despite the nerves he was brilliant.
Anyway, with the dramatic change in weather, I will be switching to my Jockey & Jill pink hoodie and quarter zip!
I will update you guys very soon on our progress!
